Smurftastic Winter Wonderland Party
So I was asked back in November if I would like to host a Smurftastic Party to celebrate the release of The Smurfs Movie on Blu-ray/DVD through Crowdtap and I accepted not knowing what exactly I would be doing. This was actually only my second "Do It Yourself" party and I was kind of nervous about it even though it was only supposed to be children that I was inviting to it.
I found some cute light blue cups, Smurf themed invitations, plates & napkins at Party City so I just got them but still wanted to stay on a budget since the site only gave me downloads & other ideas in the kit they emailed me.

When it came to figuring out what foods & activities I would be planning on having for the party I was clueless. I asked friends & family if they could give me any ideas and my sister made a great suggestion to make Smurfs out of Play-Doh since they are made out of clay anyways. The children really enjoyed making this craft as you can see! :)
I opened up my kit a little too late because the links were all expired so I just went to http://www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/thesmurfs/ and found everything I was going to print out for the craft table. I printed each coloring sheet, hat & pair of glasses for my guests and once my children got home from school I put them to work making the glasses & hats.
In order to keep my littlest one happy during the day while I cleaned & worked hard preparing for the Smurf Party, Katelyn's Daddy thought it was a good idea to give the baby a candy cane (oh my what a messy child lol!)
My mother-in-law helped out a few days before the party by baking some homemade banana bread & "Smurfberry" bread...
I made some tripleberry "Smurfberry" muffins
Cupcakes for a little Smurf village full of mushrooms decorated as if snow landed on them and sprinkles could be mixed together for a special treat
Daddy decided to help after I had done just about everything else on my own so I let him! I put together all the ingredients for Homemade Cream Cheese Icing (will post where I found it from at the bottom of the page) then he mixed it until it was smooth and creamy...yum! (This seemed to be a big hit with everyone that attended :) He ended up dying it all even though I just wanted half blue & half white (oh well...(lol) it was still good!)
I also made "Smurfberry" punch (kool-aid) & jello and we decided to make popcorn since I invited the children to come wearing PJs like a little movie slumber party to celebrate Winter Break for them. I kept thinking I needed to buy more finger foods or something but we had plenty left over even after the kids went crazy eating a bunch of popcorn, pizza & cupcakes!
What party is a party without pizza? lol!
Here's my 2 children and their first guest. For awhile I thought she might be our only guest but then I kind of liked the quiet house and the evening going as planned because once the other guests arrived it was complete chaos in the house...lol!
Here is the Smurf my daughter made
Here is "Clumsy" my son made him. As you can see I had snowflake instructions laid out on the craft table but the kids had way too much fun with their friends to be told they have to do something so they made whatever they wanted.
Miss Sarah decided to make Smurfette :)
I think she was the only one that bothered making the hat or glasses
Here was the mess that was left after the rest of our guests arrived. Everything I had planned to do didn't matter when the boys came. All together we had 5 boys & 3 girls plus the parents that stayed so you can bet this house was loud! We served pizza and played the movie with some popcorn but after they ate they bounced around from upstairs to back downstairs doing crafts, having snacks, watching a few minutes of the movie then back upstairs. It was crazy but the kids had fun with their closest friends :)
Here we tried to get a shot of the baby with "Papa Smurfs Hat" but she was constantly on the go & taking it off a lot. Several of the other kids took turns being Papa Smurf since Daddy didn't want to wear it.
There she goes trying to take it off again!
At this point we were trying to get all the kids to settle down at the table and wait patiently for their pizza so we could start the movie...lol yeah right!
I placed these little guys all over the house, (I know we have more of them actually somewhere in the house not sure where though) we got them awhile back from McDonald's & I figured why not? :)
Some of our guests were still sitting down enjoying their pizza while the others were running wild all over the house!
Aww! Best Buds :) They actually did sit down long enough to eat some popcorn & get their picture taken.
The 3 Amigos, this was just too cute not to take a pic :)
Sisters sharing popcorn together :) I'm not sure what Kylee was doing but it looked funny & I decided to keep this pic.
Mmm...Popcorn!
Well here the movie was being played but abandoned :(
Our decorations I just felt like taking pics of...
Well the adults got a chance to have several hours of conversation so not all was lost :) Pictured here is my daughters, Daddy, My new friend Rita and her son right behind her.
Another one of our neighbors, Chad telling a story
One of many cupcake breaks the children had...lol!
Looks yummy doesn't it?
I guess so...lol!
Cameron's friend Christian made this cute little penguin during the party :)
The Smurfs were all over the party and if we had more I think we should have played a hide and seek game with them.
Overall the party was great as the adults got to catch-up & the children got to play with the neighbors in their room. I held the party from 5pm-until which lasted until about 8:30 and we all had a great time! I think all the compliments and fun we had has encouraged me to host again but probably once we have moved. I had tons of ideas once the party planning really got underway such as paper snowflakes & Smurfs, decorating sugar cookies & gingerbread men to look like Smurfs, sugar cookies that you can build up to look like a tree, hide and go seek or hunting for Smurfs all over the house, decorating cupcakes to look like a tiny Smurf village & some games found online just by googling for them. I decided I had too much stuff planned so in the end the kids decided what they wanted to do and we just went with it! Thanks for reading my blog post about our Smurftastic Party, I hope you enjoyed it! :)
Soon after everyone left they decided to pass out in Kylee's room, I think they had a great time what do you think?
